I got the parts for this Mod, how do you think this compares to dual snorkel?

Re: Air Cleaner Mod
Something about the picture makes me think it won't be as good as single snorkel.

i and many others have done this mod. . i am happy with mine . i kept the large filter in the TBI/Carb. housing , gutted small filters in TPI housing . along with other minor mods. , i get 20+ mpg on daily driving . hwy driving is very high 20's close to 30 . has worked for me . i'm a cruiser not a racer . good luck .

Re: Air Cleaner Mod
Interesting in that I discussed this mod a couple of years back.
A few things to consider if this is for a high horsepower application for racers AND cruisers.
The restriction in the TPI filter housing needs to be enlarged. See 1bad91Z's thread about what's required.

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tpi/...pi-camaro.html

Ditching the TPI dual filters is a good idea as they lose they're ability to flow enough air once you get past 400 hp or so. K&N and David Vizard have published specs on cfm per square inch of filter media. The same thinking applies to whatever round filter element you choose to use.
And naturally, the transition from the TPI housing to the round filter housing has to be large enough as not to be a restriction itself.
Still contemplating a cold air system similar to this one. I prefer the stealthy look of a stock hood rather than a cowl induction hood. Under hood clearence is the overriding factor in my case.

I like what I see. Looks like a 350 lid. I need to investigate this. I could use this for my 92 tbi. Where did you get the parts?

I got the double filter set up from salvage yard. From there all I need is to cut the stock snorkel, and weld a tube straight from the air cleaner to the dual filters, just like the pic.

Re: Air Cleaner Mod
You mean the scoop you have bolted to the front? What did you use for ducting?

Re: Air Cleaner Mod
i like it an im sure it could be really good with some mods to the air lid, but what about this idea...

what about taking the same idea as the dual snorkels but have them routed to the airboxes instead?

ok heres an REALLY bad example of it

probaly wont clear the hood, but hey you could sure try! or if you ever want an iroc hood you could do the same idea, but connected to the louvers (if you made them functional) but you would have to use an strechable material.

Re: Air Cleaner Mod
I think you'd get better airflow from the usual location above the headlight pockets.
