aftermarket air cleaner

aftermarket air cleaner

I bought an aftermarket are cleaner and went to install...what are the small electrical wire running into the bottom of the factory air cleaner and what should i do with it? The aftermarket piece doesnt have a spot for it.

i cant recall off the top of my head what it is, but the car does not need it to run, but if left unhooked it will send a trouble code, you can take it off the original air cleaner base and hook it up and leave it in the engine bay somewhere, or make a hole in the new air cleaner base and mount it there.

yea, i found somewhere that its a temp sensor and it can be relocated to the firewall, anyone know about the vacuum line thing , mine says AC on it, about an inch long and a half inch wide

It's for the thermac valve, you'll plug it if you remove the air cleaner.

Its the intake air temperature sensor, or the IAT. Remove from the stock housing and plug back in to the harness. Relocate it somewhere that it doesn't get to much heat and gives a true representation of the actual temperature of the air going in. Plug off the vacuum tap on the TBI or carb that the line ran to.
