Codes 12 and 42, and exhaust/vacuum leak?

Hello all. I recently purchased an '89 RS V6 and since, it has thrown up the 12 [No reference pulses to Electronic Control Module (ECM)] and 42 (Fault at electronic spark timing circuit OR Fault at direct ignition system OR Fault at fuel cutoff relay circuit) codes, and is lacking the power it should have. The car seems to hit a bit of a wall when accelerating and is slow to get going at times. Throttle response is slow on occasion. I've checked for vacuum leaks around the engine bay and came up fruitless. I also Seafoamed the car, and when put in to the vacuum line it did its thing and sent lots of smoke from the tailpipe, but when put inside the block and gas tank, no smoke came out whatsoever. I plan on changing the ignition coil tomorrow, and the plugs and wires are very recent. Could the problems possibly be code-related, or something else?

Update- replaced wires, plugs, coil, and checked distributor. The damn code's still there! The car runs better now, but still bogs down in higher RPMs. Is it possible that it could be a bad TPS or IAC? I don't know that those would throw a code 42...
