oil pump gasket???

oil pump gasket???
i got a new oil pump and pick up, the pump came with a small gasket feeling circular thing that seems like it would fit right in with the pick up...its like a small cup with one end a lil smaller opening then the other. does this go into the pick up and which way? or anything else it might be

A white plastic tube shape? That's the oil pump drive coupler. It attaches the oil pump shaft to the oil pump. When you take the shaft off the old pump, the plastic coupler will break.
