I have a 1991 305 TBI. It idles great and revs up normally when in park. When you go to drive it and start giving it gas it will build speed for a second then lose all power and after it does this and you put it in park it wont rev past 2000 rpm until you turn the car off then it will idle and rev right again till u start driving it. I had a buddy watch the throttle body and injectors while i reved it in park after one of these episodes. When it hit 2000 rpm it was still spraying fuel but not igniting it cuz i lost all power. Can you please help me figure out the problem.

 

See if your check engine soon light is on. If so, check it for codes via code reader at auto parts store for free or use paperclip method first to see code # and if it will give you any clues as to why this is happening.

 

Thats a problem cuz my check engine light never comes on even when i cross aldl ports a and b

 

Fuel filter maybe? Did you check all ignition connections and related like cap, rotor, coil, etc?

 

Ok I got the check engine light to work and the code it threw were all caused by me except one a code 53 (system over voltage)

 

I have replaced the fuel filter. As faras the other ignition componets go I figured they were fine seeing how when it doesnt act up it can rev to 6500 prm without missing a beat
