Re: smaller distributer cap?

The pre-HEI dizzy in cap, separate coil caps are the smallest I've seen. Any smaller & I'd be worried about crossfire.

Re: smaller distributer cap?

Smaller caps have the disadvantage of requirng the terminals to be placed closer together. This increases the chance of cross-firing when spark jumps to the wrong terminal. One of the benefits of the HEI is the terminals are spread farther apart.

Most move to smaller cap distributors for clearance reasons.

Re: smaller distributer cap?

The cap is the same diameter as the distributor so unless you're going to change it too there isn't anything.

Re: smaller distributer cap?

What is it hitting? There should be enough room between even a large-cap HEI and everything around it.
