Replacing a lifter, found something different....

Replacing a lifter, found something different....
Hey guys, I have a thread going about how I have had a ticking lifter.
Well.... I pulled the offending lifter to replace it and it doesn't look like any lifter that I have seen before. Here's what I'm talking about. The lifter on the right is the one out of my engine, the lifter on the left is the replacement.
bottom is from the engine top is replacement
Black is from the engine silver is the replacement
From doing a little research the one from my engine is similar to a LS7 lifter. Would replacing this lifter with a stock one cause any problems? Help me guys!!! I need the car back together so I can go to work tomorrow!!!

I would say as long as you are replacing it with a stock lifter that is the same in all aspects, you are fine. Check length and diameter to be sure and if they match, shouldn't be any issues. The differences of the lifters in your photos could be because of different manufacturers.

You MIGHT get away with it, but I wouldn't chance it. If the new one is just a touch deeper it shouldn't matter as you will have to adjust your valve anyway once you put it back together.

well probably it is just a difference in the manufacturer. If you bought a stock replacement, you should be fine.

So can any body tell me what kind of lifters I have? If it's an LS7 lifter what are the specs of it? The engine is a scoggin dickey reman from 2001. So it's the lifters that have been in since I got the car. EDIT.......ok I just got off of the phone with John at scoggin dickey and he tells me that every engine since 2000 has been sent out with LS7 lifters. So I guess I need to buy a set of those. DAMN!!!!! Will I be able to just get by with cleaning the lifter until the set gets here? I already did it and it pumped up fine afterwards.

I have never cleaned a noisy lifter and reused it and don't know of anyone else who has either. I'd be wary of it myself, but that just might be my paranoia.
