smoking overheat no start after (tpi)

ok so i bought an 88 iroc recently because i didnt like the amount of rust on my berli. the guy told me that the car sat for at least a year but he would go out and start it from time to time. now as i was driving home from the marines the car started to over heat so i turned the ac on hoping it would cool it down so i could make it home well driving down the garden state parkway my car started smoking and lost power and died when i got it home i tried starting it and it would turn over but no start......today i went outside and checked for a blown coolant line but they were all good and i swapped out the over flow bottle... i also installed the MSD that i had into the car plus a new coil just not the dizzy yet i am getting spark to the plugs and i smelled fuel, the pump is on i can hear it but it will not start any help?

you have to turn on the heater in an overheat situation, but check the wiring harness, mine shorted and burned up about a year ago, it was at the fire wall.

Its a very common problem in 3rd gens but the reason it wont start after and overheat its safety mech in the computer to keeo from damaging the engine give it some time and will restart but you can do a search in the forums for the problem but it is sensor related
