Mid mount alternator bracket?

Guys,

I have the '87 hybrid v-belt setup with alternator on the passenger side. I am not currently running an AIR pump and would like to mount the alternator in roughly that location. I have not seen a lot of info on brackets that work with these cars. Has anyone done this?

Thanks

I don't recall having seen anyone who has done it. You'd have to fabricate brackets, I'm sure.

In fact, you might check the Fabrication forum. I don't spend much time there, but perhaps someone has tackled it.

Re: Mid mount alternator bracket?

I found one that might work. March Performance 20124.

Re: Mid mount alternator bracket?

Just about any mid-level alternator bracket should work - you'll just have to change belt size. You have the wide belt for alternator, and V-belt for P/S and A/C right? I swapped my Serp setup for a setup like yours - putting alternator back on pass side where it belongs, and I got rid of smog and A/C.

Alternator brackets seem to be easy - even the lower priced brands seem to work well - you could check ebay or other brands and save some cash over the March. But if you ever do anything with P/S, stay away from anything other than March - I tried several different ones that 'looked' identical to the March P/S stuff, but the ONLY one that worked properly was the March.

Cool. I had a little trouble finding one that I was sure would fit my alternator. Yes I am sure I will have fun finding the right part number for the belt.

I already ordered the March, I will post up pics when its done.

I would love to get rid of A/C as that would really clean up the engine bay. But the few times a year I use it, its nice to have.

Thanks for the info.
