Car broke down please help!

I went to the stop sign at the end of my road and go to take off my car revved then poped I coasted around the corner into parking lot. At first my clutch was stiff as a rock and the car would not start and then a few minutes later it was soft again agian. So I got the engine started and my car wont shift into any gear when I hit the pedal. I had someone hit the pedal and the slave cylinder barely moves but the master moves just fine.

Update:

I can move the slave cylinder freely back and forth except when someone is holding the clutch pedal down.

The car shifts into gear only with the engine off.

When started in gear it acts like im not holding the clutch down, and has a metal grinding sound.

What is wrong with my car and can it be fixed by replacing my slave cylinder , master cylinder seal or is my throw out bearing toast?

1) Any brake fluid leaks?
2) What do you mean by "I can move the slave cylinder freely back and forth..."?
3) If you replace the seals on both or if you can replace both cylinders with new or refurbished ones I believe it should deffinitely fix your problem

Re: Car broke down please help!

no leaks the slave cylinder i can move back and forth by hand but goes back to fully extended on position so the clutch stays engaged thaught that too but no brake fluid is leaking by the pedal or under the hood on either master or slave

i cant move the slave when someone is holding down the clutch pedal

if i shift into a gear and then start the car it jumps forward and stalls out even with the pedal down

still not sure but the pedal feels different now like it has nothing to press aginst but free travel is within specs

still not sure im renting a tow dolly to move the car

If it's jumping and stalling when you start the car (in gear), and it won't go into gear when the car is on, then your slave isn't engaging. Get under there and check things out. Get your hands dirty.

The problem now is the slave stays stuck out, I can move the fork back and forth by hand so I think my TOB got stuck or broke loose or clutch fork broke.

You shouldn't be able to move that fork back and forth like you are describing. Doesn't sound good to me

Re: Car broke down please help!

Isnt it suppose to be stiff due to throw out bearing resting on the pressure plate so it can push the center of the pressure plate?

You got it. If you can move that fork with your hand you've got a problem. Either your fork broke, throw-out bearing unseated itself, or something else.

When everything is right you CANNOT move that with your hands. Something must of broke inside your clutch. Sorry, but you're gonna have to take it apart.
