TPI HSR Guys, what is this?
Hey Guys,
Please see attached pic. Is this the oil pressure sensor/sender? The fitting that goes into the rear of the engine block is blocking my HSR intake manifold. I may need to get another one at the hardware store. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks guys!!!

yes, that is what that is, but I don't recall seeing one T'd like that before. Looks like a rig job. The large part should screw into your block on the top at the rear and the sender should go in a port just above the oil filter. Check and see if the previous owner may have plugged that port and just rigged up what you have now. Just going on memory from an 82 and 86 z28 we used to own. My 92 is totally different.

If not you need a 1/8" NPT male to female fitting to raise the angled fitting higher in the block

As far as I know only the 85-86 TPI car has that sending unit. 87-99 has a different style that goes in the side of the block just above the oil filter.

Hey IROC stangs, not sure if you were being sarcastic with your comment on my car, but FYI, I purchased the car, knowing it was a Z28. At some point (between 1986 and the day I purchased it), someone put the IROC labels on it. I have since removed them, since I am fully aware that the car was not originally optioned as an IROC. So, if you were trying to be funny, hahaha. Nice job. I did not join this board to be the brunt of stupid jokes. Keep it to yourself if you dont like my car.

Re: TPI HSR Guys, what is this?
i ran into this problem on my 383 hsr swap in my 86 iroc as well. all i did was removed the lower piece that threads into the block. and threaded the skinny one in instead. and it made the sensors point toward the firewall. i had some clearance issues though, so i dented the firewall ever so slightly to get it to clear. it can rotate but i had alot of stuff in the way. i wouldnt say it was the "correct" way by any means lol, but thats how i ended up doin it, and it worked.

My block is a non-roller and doesn't have the over the oil filter port for the fuel pump pressure switch.
I removed those replaced them with one high pressure braided flex line and remotely mounted them near the driver's side headlight along with a 0-100 psi gauge.
