Distributor problems
Okay so I'm having some problems with my 350 tpi. I just changed the head gaskets, and now that im putting it back together and trying to time it something is mystifying me. If i plug the four prong plug on my distirbutor back in. The one you have to unplug to set initial timing, the car dies insantly. It'll then crank for days untill you unplug it again then it starts right back up.
This all has me puzzled. I've done some investigating on the car and found that a previous owner installed an ACCEL stand alone injection system. And that there isn't even a stock computer in the car. The distibutor is also not the one that orginially came in the car. It's a coil on-top HEI like the ones in 85 z's. Not only this but its locked out. So this as well has me confused. I just replaced the injectors with 22lb stock units. And i have full 3" exhaust. I am wondering what any of you suggest i do. I am trying to spend as little as possible for now as I just dumped quite a bit into the injectors and head gaskets. So where should i put my timing. As well as what you all think about the plug issue? Any response gets me farther then where I am now. Please and Thank you. Tyler

Re: Distributor problems
I would start by downloading and reading the instructions for the Accel ECM unit you have.
Maybe the Accel ECM can run engine without ECM control of spark advance ? ( mech advance only )
Can you talk to PO?
