I was trying to put on a cylinder head and I was wiggling it to get both the dowel pins to connect.

Re: i scratched a head gasket do I need new ones..

Id get a new one if it where me, especially if some of the scrapes are near the fire rings. Ive junked head gaskets for less.

Like said if deep/near the fire rings toss it but the areas by the top of the head nothing going on there dont worry about it. Id use them the way they are unless I missed something.

Re: i scratched a head gasket do I need new ones..

Aren't those the common Felpro rebuilder type gaskets? Part # 7733PT2 if my memory dosen't fail me. If so they only cost like $10.00 each so I would probably replace it but I don't really see a problem where the scratches are.
