700R4 TV Cable Question

Hope this fits into the area of this forum but would someone please confirm my thought. If I were to transplant a 5.7 TPI (MAP) and a 700R4 into a non third gen car, could I not just use (a new) stock cable that fit the original vehicle? In other words, aren't the TV cables all the same length and simply go from the tranny to the bracket on the plenum? Am I missing something?

thanks...

The TV cables for a particular type of throttle body are all the same.

Re: 700R4 TV Cable Question

Why thank you...guess I'll go buy a new cable for a 1990 TPI Camaro and it will work. Any place better (less expensive) than the dealer to get one?

Possibly any parts store should have them.
Thing with a cable transplant, say you take it off a carbed car and go to install it on a TPI you will see its not going to reach around.

Re: 700R4 TV Cable Question

Make sure the cable sits in the trans flush before tightening the nut. I had that issue the cable didn't sit flat and fluid leaked out when the car sat overnight.

If its around $30 I would go for that. The cheap azz universal cables from Summit are that much. Last time I needed a TV cable I got Delco. Don't remember what I paid though.
And even though the parts are more and more comming from china I still liike to buy Delco when I can. Just today I am putting pulse wipers in my mom's S10 and needed a wiper switch so I got a Delco (this one was made in Mexico) over a autozone Dontlast.

Thanks everyone for the input...My research at the local GM dealer revealed Part # 10163879 fits 89-91 Camaro, Corvette and Firebird (around $52.00) and confirmed my suspicion (and Aperion's quote) that the cable for the 700R4/5.7 TPI combo is pretty much, if not, exactly the same.

Well if you were a bit more specific then that could have been answered a long time ago.
Its also the same cable on the 5.0 TPI.
As I mentioned, its pretty much what fuel system the cable needs to go around and connect to.
