nock sensor and egr sensor. locations

Can anyone get me a picture of these on the actual engine and wired up to the car? I have a stray wire with a plug that I'm pretty sure goes to one of these. It is on the bottom of the engine left side if you're looking at it.

EGR is on the intake up top. Sounds like what you have is knock sensor wire or fan switch wire.

Knock sensor is in the block, under #6 spark plug.

Fan switch is in the head, bewteen #6 & #8 spark plug.

Both the knock sensor and the fan switch use the same type connector. Both are single wires. Can you ground the wire with key on? If you can, and the fan runs, then you know it's the fan switch wire.

What color is the wire? What induction do you have (TPI or TBI)?

Re: nock sensor and egr sensor. locations

If it was knock sensor, I'd think you'd get an SES light - so if you have no SES light, maybe not knock.

If it's a dual fan car, and secondary fan works when temps get above 235, then it wouldn't be the fan switch.

I see the little rubber boot on it - not sure if fan switch or knock sensor had rubber boot on them, so I'm a bit lost.

I don't have any experience with the TPI setups, so I'm not sure whet to tell you to check. I guess if it were me, I'd make a list of all the sensors, and locate them one by one, and check the connectors for each until I found the one missing something, then see if that wire reaches (GM never gave us much for wiring, so if the wire is too long, it probably doesn't go there).

Here's a list of common sensor locations: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=20

I get the see light when I hit a bump but then it goes right back off which is why I think it is the nOck. The wire is actually really short. Maybe 5 or 6 inches at most

Okay new development I moved it so I could put my intrepid that I crashed into the backyard. It takes a few tries to start up. And it will stall a few times aswell as the gas not being recognized right when it is just started

That picture is not of the knock sensor wire, that looks like the secondary fan wire. Check the plastic connector on your knock sensor because mine was kind of stripped out and kept falling off the knock sensor. Remember these cars are twenty plus years old or so. Later
