Have a car person to take with you? Looks good from what I see, primer can hide alot of bad body work. A carb is not to bad just have to let the engine warm up a little.

Re: new these motors

when its cold out push the gas to the floor twice before you try to start it. When you take a look at it try to get the carb make and model # and we can help you out a little more. the only dumb question is the one you dont ask we are here to help.

Re: new these motors

as far as upgrades from stock on the struts you can get KYB's part #236001 for about $51 each for the struts or you can go to a strut that lowers the car about an 1" for about the same price. the cheapest Ive seen is the monroe sensa-trac part # 71728ST they are 48.95 each.

Re: new these motors

You'll need to get block numbers from the engine - everyone with a 305 thinks they have a 350 - block number will be driver side, rear of block - almost impossible to see when motor is in the car.

If it's been dogged (which is a good assumption), and it is a 350, I wouldn't be surprised if the tranny will need rebuilt/replaced soon - T5 can't stand up to much from a 350.

Have no idea on your emissions regs there - if it's an aftermarket carb setup might not be able to pass inspection and thus it becomes yard art for you.

In my world, it's priced $1000 too much, but then again I'm so tight I can make diamonds from coal - I've never paid over $800 for a 3rd gen, and the $800 one only needed battery (interior was great, exterior peeling paint, but motor strong). But location changes price alot, I happen to live in cheap car country - you'd know better about pricing in your area than I would.

Biggest problems folks come across that they don't look for first - wiring. If the factory wiring has been hacked, pass on it. Look for the rad fan running constantly - takes the kick panel off under the driver dash and look at wiring - is it hacked? Then the obvious, bad smoking, leaks, motor ticking/knocking, bad rust, etc. Take a jack and flashlight, get up under the car to look.

Nose cones are expensive, and hard to find in good shape - is the nose cracked or damaged?
