canfield heads

has anyone used the canfield aluminum 200cc heads? any problems? I remember these heads from back in the day but I havent heard about anyone using them in a long time. found a deal for a pair for just under $900 new was wondering if it was worth it or if I should spend a little more for dart pro 1's.

Re: canfield heads

My 3490lb car went 11.25 @ 121mph with a 10.5:1 355 and a solid flat tappet cam with Canfield's right out of the box.

Buy them... Immediately. As far as I know, Canfield is out of business so their heads will slowly vanish.

Re: canfield heads

I've heard that Jegs brand heads were Canfields. How true that is...I don't know.

Re: canfield heads

I've never seen a set of Jegs-branded heads but judging by the specs and pictures on jegs.com it definitely looks like they are Canfields. Either way, I couldn't speak more highly of them... Sure their flow numbers don't match the bigger brands but when it comes to actually performing in the real world I wouldn't replace them with anything.

That is where I bought mine... One thing I forgot to mention is that the valve seals Competition Products uses when they assemble the heads are absolute junk. Buy a new set and install them before you put them on the car... My motor burned oil like crazy when I first put it together and it turned out that the seals were old/bad. No fault of Canfields whatsoever though.... Competition Products buys them bare and then assembles them in-house.

Re: canfield heads
