Vacuum question
I noticed my MAP sensor doesnt have a vacuum line hooked up to it. where is the best place to hook it up at? The carb or right into the intake manifold?

Re: Vacuum question
May not be a MAP sensor at all.
Where is it? What color is the body of its electrical connector?

Re: Vacuum question
its mounted up on the pass side near the blower box it has a 3 wire plug going to it which the connector is green if i recall correctly, it has a nipple on it on the bottom side of it, that looks like a vacuum line would go to it, it looks just like my map sensor on my old 92 olds

Re: Vacuum question
Exactly as I expected, and why I asked...
That's not the MAP sensor. That's the barometric pressure sensor.
Recall that "vacuum" is the indicator of engine load. It is actually the difference between MAP (manifold aboslute pressure) and ambient absolute pressure. Therefore, measuring MAP alone, doesn't give you "vacuum" accurately. You need both. For a short time, on some engine models (notably the L69), the factory used that baro sensor to give it the extra input for the best possible accuracy.
Since it's measuring ambient pressure, it doesn't get a vacuum hose.
Your MAP sensor is on the firewall between the brake booster and the fender. Looks identical to the baro sensor, except its plug is black. It has (had, anyway) one of those hard plastic vac lines, that hooks to the carb throttle plate at the rear.

Re: Vacuum question
I dont have the emissions sticker anymore, and what should be hooked up to that sensor? anything? I guess i better take that vacuum line off of that sensor. lol

Re: Vacuum question
The green 3-wire connector. Nothing else.
Yes if you put a vacuum hose on it you should undo that.
