88 Iroc wont stay on unless I give it gas for a bit

I have an 88 IROC (5.7 V8) and when ever I start it, it immediatly bogs down and die It will do this unless I give it some gas for around 10 15 seconds. This issue would not bother me as much but I have a remote start and would like to actually use it.

Oh both the manual start and remote work fine once the car is warm but if it cool's down its the same story.

mine did this after sitting for a long time(years) but after running a few gas tanks of fuel and replacing the fuel filter, the problem went away
