running rich at idle?

hey guys i have an 85 Z28 with the 305 TPI. when i got the car it wasnt running, so i replaced the ICM and she fired right up. today i let it idle for a little bit and it seemed like it was running rich (smoke out of the tail pipe and it smelled like fuel). the PO said that the motor has a little hotter cam and the MAF has no screens. i also unplugged the cold start injector. any idea on what this could be? anyone else run into this problem?

blue smoke only at startup is the valve seals. Lots of reason why it could be running rich. Does it have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? Is your SES light functioning correctly.

Re: running rich at idle?

the SES comes on when i just turn on the key with the engine not started. the smoke is blue and it smells like unburned fuel which is why i think it is running rich. the smoke is kind of thick on first start up, but thins out as it gets closer to operating temp. and no AFPR.
