No A/C, how do I mount power steering?
Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I need help figuring out how to mount my power steering on a 70s 350 block. I have headers too, if that matters. Do I need a special bracket for this or what?

Re: No A/C, how do I mount power steering?
I tried using the factory brackets without the A/C on them, but something with the A/C part of the brackets keeps the whole busines stable, and without the A/C part, I never had any luck. (I swapped in an older motor and ditched my serp setup for v-belt setup)
I ordered the March P/S pump bracket and it does fine. Settle for no less than March, I tried several other brands (trying to save a buck) and none worked. Best to bite the bullet and spend the $105 for the March and save the hassle of cheaper brands not working.

Mines working just fine without the ac bracket. Had to add a spacer for the top bolt, thats it. The belt does want to bend the bracket with only the two mounting points, but its strong enough to be fine.

I see two kinds of brackets that March has, a Saginaw and metric. I have no idea what the difference is between the two.

Re: No A/C, how do I mount power steering?
I'm guessing my issue with trying to use the stock brackets was maybe the bracket I had was just too old - it wasn't very stiff, and it wobbled quite a bit. I tried several different way of bracing it, and finally gave up.
The March bracket I used is: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MCH-20165/
I'm sure that Billet Specialties and other 'better' brands work well too. The 'junk' I tried was an ebay bracket that 'looked' exactly the same as the March, and some other cheaper brand that looked identical, and neither actually worked (wrong size spacers included, wrong hole locations, etc.) - that's why I 'gave up' and went with the March - I knew they'd stand by their product and would assist with phone tech support if needed.

Re: No A/C, how do I mount power steering?
My pulley on the P/S pump is actually just a single V pulley.
Originally, my car had the serp setup (1992 car). But I swapped in the carbed 350 and got rid of those huge ugly serp brackets. Now I'm setup like a 1987 car, with alternator on pass side and using the 1/2 serp 1/2 v-belt kinda setup. I run a serp-looking belt (ie a wide flat belt) from crank to w/p to alt, and a skinny v-belt from crank to w/p to p/s.
That way, if one belt breaks, I still have w/p running to keep engine cool until I can get to a store to get another belt. I have no smog pump or A/C.
For my car (since it was serp originally), this meant replacing w/p pulley, changing to an older p/s pump, and older alt.
