What type of shop would you take a gas tank to?

I bought a replacement gas tank for my 1991 Formula - The filler neck was welded (looks soldered, actually) in the wrong orientation (it's clocked at about 10 o'clock instead of 12.

What type of local shop would you ordinarily take a fuel tank to, to have this type of repair done? I've never had to take a fuel tank anywhere, so it's all new to me.

if the tank has never had gas in it, and competent welder should be able to take care of it

It's had 2 gallons in it, but that's it.

I was going to say a radiator shop as well - call a few and ask before driving all over town.

Re: What type of shop would you take a gas tank to?

Called a shop this morning and they sounded reasonable. Took 'em 1 day - I got a call at their closing time saying it was ready for pickup in the morning. Only cost $35+tax, which RockAuto is reimbursing me for.

I'm excited to get it back in the car and FINALLY get the car on 4 wheels (been on 2 jackstands for 2 weeks now!)

It's not so much RockAuto as it is their manufacturers. Spectra Premium is the only manufacturer of aftermarket gas tanks for our cars, so I was kind of prepared for some fitment issues. I will say that RockAuto did try to rectify the situation, so I can't fault them there.
