Welcome to TGO. Lots of good info here to help with our cars. I'm going to move your thread to the general tech board.

GM put the fan switch in the right hand cylinder head between 6 & 8. So if nothing there then no fan switch.

The gauge sensor/switch is in the left hand head between 1 & 2. Should have a single green wire to it.

Re: please help cant find the coolant temp swtich

It's actually between spark plugs #1 & #3. #1 is the front driver's side, #2 is the front pass side. We'll excuse the typo THIS TIME, though.

Yes your temperature gauge sending unit gets only one wire, and that one is dark green. It comes from the loom beside the driver's side of the carb between the carb and the valve cover.

In the intake, one thing is the coolant temp sensor for the computer (2 wires, a black & a yellow), and the other is the EFE vacuum switch (it's entirely a vacuum thing, not electrical).

You don't have a "coolant switch".

This is the Coolant Temperature Sensor that is located in or close to the thermostat housing:

Should have a yellow and a black wire to it. This tells the computer what the coolant temp is.

Yea, having it in the middle of the block would make it hard to get to. Gotta' do better at proof reading.
