valve seals question
valve seals question
I recently replaced the head gaskets on my 91 camaro 350 and noticed some burnt oil on the back-side of the heads. I scraped it off gently and put everything back together. I am curious if bad valve seals will allow gas to leak into the spark plugs. My #7 plug is instantly wet and has yet to fire. I have tested it's spark and it is good. My car won't run, so I'm trying to figure out what would allow gas down in there? My float levels are good and doesn't seem to be flooding it. If I am in the wrong ball park let me know.

Re: valve seals question
Valve seals allow oil from the tops of the heads to leak down into the combustion chamber and get burnt, thus causing a blueish smoke (usually on first startup of the day, or when you gun it from a redlight) - but that oil won't keep the plug from firing.
Have you left the #7 plug out for a day to let it air out in there, and then replace and try cranking?

Re: valve seals question
right now i have all of the plugs out for over a day now. I noticed that my float level was in the middle before i took them out the other day and now it is lower. I'm curious as to why gas would be slowly leaking (from the carburetor maybe)?
