I have a 84 camaro that i just swapped my 355 into. I need a bigger radiator for it and was wondering if there was a truck radiator that had the same design just a little thinker that i could use, any suggestions?

 

If the car was a V8 before, the stock radiator should be fine I'd think. I'm running a stock 305 TBI radiator with my 350 and not any problems in last 4 years, even in hot 100 degree summer days. You just want a good fan setup and good temp switch. I myself am actually also running the stock 305 single electric fan as well, but I'm running a seperate fan controller that is adjustable so I can have the fan come on earlier (on at 200, off at 185). And I'm running a 180 stat.

 

use your factory radiator. ive used my factory radiator with my 355 swap for about 20 months now. what i did is, i installed a 160 degree thermostat, and my water temp is NEVER over 155 degrees. Even when i drive the car EXTREMELY hard

 

After running the car for about 10 mins with fan always on I climbed to 195 and when I rev you can see the lower hose collapsing figgured the radiator was to restrictive.

 

no thats beacuse you need a spring in the lower hose to prevent that. Also 195 is not hot when u get to 230 and higher then its gettin pretty warm

 

try a 160 degree thermostat. see where that gets you.

its a very cheap and easy thing to try. i dont think the thermostat and the gasket even add up to 10 bucks

 

If your running the computer controlled system still, a 160 stat might be too low, and the cooler temps may make the computer richen the mixture all the time. But a 180 stat should be a happy middle.

 

There is no computer in the car anymore and i already have a stat. Where would i find a lower hose with a spring in it. i was searching online napa, autozone, and even summit but cant find one that says anything about a spring.

 

yea no parts store hose will come with the spring i run a napa and we just happen to have one in a bunch of overstock in the back might wanna see at a local parts store or worse comes to worse u could use a coat hanger but make sure its painted so it doesnt rust.
