Iroc z Idle problems *VIDEO*

Hey everybody,

I just bought this iroc recently for very cheap, and it didnt run when i bought it.

So ive replaced the ignition control module and distributor pickup and after setting the timing, it fired right up.

HERES MY ISSUE. it idles very poorly when cold.

Here is a video describing/showing my problem.

seems like you have a cam and that's causing what you think is a rough idle.

The issue im having with it is not so much the lopeyness of the idle.

Its how drastically it fluctuates. On a cold start, the first 30 seconds, holding the gas is required just to keep it alive.

Im really leaning towards a bad idle air control valve.

Are there any other sensors, or problems that can cause this.

i know for sure i have an exhaust leak right on the drivers side manifold collector.

THanks for the reply!

Re: Iroc z Idle problems *VIDEO*

i bought a throttle body off of my buddy for 20 bucks, and that has the iac valve included.

just finished polishing and cleaning everything, including the iac.

hopefully this fixes it,

also, i wouldn't be surprised if my timing was off as well. i could barely see the timing mark last time.

Any other reasons my idle could be fluctuating? besides the previous owner having possibly put in an aftermarket cam...?

Check your timing and make sure it's at 6 degrees btdc before anything. And give it a good seafoam.
