A double roller set fits fine behind a stock front cover.

Re: any advice on timing chain set ??

Back when I put a 350 in my '86 IROC-Z, I spent a lot extra on a Manley double roller. A couple of years later, taking the engine apart, the chain had no slop in it. That really surprised me. Cloyes is supposed to be the first name in timing sets, but I found an excellent alternative.

This is what I used, IIRC: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MAN-73111/
there are cheaper options, but I feel this is worth it.
