Over drive problem, maybe
Over drive problem, maybe
I have an 84 camaro with L69 engine, automatic
For starters; when is the rite time to go from drive to over drive when going/already on the highway?
I normaly put it in over drive at the light before I turn on the highway, about 10 seconds away.
I noticed that when im accelerating and get to about 55mph the rpms start to jump from 2000 to about 2300 until I get to about 60 and then its fine, until I slow down. then the same thing
Is it just me? maybe a vacuum leak?

Re: Over drive problem, maybe
Probably the converter unlocking.
But The L69 can pull OD at 35 MPH, even with 3.42:1 gears, so you could be getting better MPG on most other roads if you would just always drive with the shifter in OD like everyone else does. It knows when it needs to go back to drive, that's why it's called an automatic.
