did a motor swap from 3.1 to a 3.4 in a 90 firebird.Had to put a push button on the starter because the safty switch or somthing wouldnt let it start some times.Well that made it where it started great,Then the boy(my son)put an amp with 12subs in it.Then she started to turn over very slow at first but would still start.Now when he hits the starter it takes a second or 2 to turn over and dosnt turn over fast enuff so when it trys to start it cant.Starter of corse gets hot.and some sign of smoke from the coil pack my son in law said.I put a 600amp battery in it today and same thing,no start.turn over very slow,speeded up for a second and nothing.I had him un hook the amp.Batterys are supposed to be fully charged right.the starter dosnt make any noises.just slow slow slow to turn it over.

 

up date,pulled the starter off and put another used one I had on,the other one didn't have any shims in it.I bought a small pac put 2 in it and put it back together.Hit the switch and fired up so fast almost forgot to let go of the switch.One of the post on the starter,(the big one)needed tightening.As of now she will start with the factory switch.Just in case anyone else runs into this type of thing!
