Hey all I was hoping i could get some help on this. A few times here and there, not on every start up just a few and it only lasts for a min, but I'll get a noise almost like two plastic cups hitting each other, sounded like it was coming from the rear of the engine but then when i moved to try and hear it was back at the front and i didn't have a tube with me to filter it down, but my ac and smog pump are disconnected, and my alt and water pump are new so i guess its could be my power steering pump? Maybe the pulley is just moving back and forth? Any help will be appreciated.

 

My power steering pump makes a cheesy noise something like what you are describing. It quits like yours also.

 

Well I gotta change my power steering pump's main hose so ill look at it when i'm in there and play with it for a little.

 

I have had the same noise for year, and it has never worsened, so I have ignored it till you mentioned it. I still don't worry about it.
