Re: how to tell motor size

It's on the top of the block - nearly impossible to see - need a small mirror, a brush on a handle (like a toilet brush) to scrape/clean off area, maybe a cleaner, a flashlight, and alot of patience, It's at the back of the driver side head - 6 or 7 digit number. Sometimes you'll see "5.0" or "5.7" stamped on blocks - 5.0=305, 5.7=350

Re: how to tell motor size

It's so easy to tell someone it's a 350 when it's really a 305 since all SBC engines look the same.

Even when it's 310 cubic inches it's still a 305.

I understand what you are trying to say.

But, step back and think like a neophite and re-read what you posted. It will actually make you chuckle.

If they get confused just whack them upside the head with a clue stick.
