shiny side

As I had recently rebuilt my 350 and used quality parts I have a dilemma. My car started smoking so I pulled the heads and both(882) were severely cracked.I just ordered a new set from KMJ(aluminum)as I reassemble, can I still reuse roller tips with nuts and such and same pushrods? I just had standard pushrods ,do I need hardened or longer? Next,I have not moved cylinders since pulling HEI (marked)so can I install new heads and rest of components w/o retiming? Some say use intake valley gaskets some say use sealant(thoughts?)Last thing, does the shiny dimple side go in or out on the exhaust manifold?

Re: shiny side

Yea, that's a common problem with 882 heads. Paper thin and prone to cracking.

- Re-use pushrods - yes, as long as your camshaft, valve length, rockers are the same, no problem.
- Roller tip rockers - yes.
- HEI - Should be fine, but you'll want to double check your timing after you get it running again just to be sure.
- Intake "china wall" gaskets - your choice. It's a matter of personal opinion. I used the black rubber ones, but my car leaks like a seive (not sure from where...), so take that as you wish...
- Shiny dimple side? You're talking about on exhaust gaskets? I must have used different style gaskets than you, so i'm not sure. I doubt it matters -but perhaps someone else can chime in.

Re: shiny side

Heads arrive today and I ordered new hardened pushrods and now I need 1255 intake gaskets because the ones in my set are for heads with heat ports

Re: shiny side

if you have installed the heads how are they holding up I afraid to buy cylinder heads that are not proven but I never hear anything bad about KMJ cylinder heads.
