1989 CAMARO
CAR WILL NOT START UNLESS I PUT A COUPLE DROP OF GAS IN THROTTLE BODY. HAVE NO DTC. ONCE STARTED AND RUNNING RUNS GREAT GREAT OIL PRESSURE 3O TO 35 PSI. ITS A 5.7 L. ITS SUPPOSE TO HAVE A NEW FUEL PUMP. WHAT IS THE RESISTANCE VALUE SUPPOSE TO BE ON SENDING UNIT. CANT FIND OUT NO WHERE IN MY HAYNES MANUAL. ONE OLD POST SAID SENDING UNIT COULD BE FAULTY EVEN THOUGH I SHOW GOOD OIL PRESSURE SO FIGURED I WOULD TEST FOR THE HECK OF IT. BUT DONT KNOW WHAT RESISTANCE I SHOULD HAVE. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I DO NOT HEAR THE PUMP RUN WHEN I TURN THE SWITCH ON HOW EVER AS SOON AS I EAT LUNCH I'M GOING OUT TO MY SHOP AND HOOK UP A FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE AND SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING THERE. BUT I DON'T SEE HOW THE FUELPUMP COULD BE BAD CAUSE I WENT ON A 40 MILE ROUND TRIP WITH OUT TURNING IT OFF OF COURSE PLUS HAD A LITTLE BOTTLE OF GAS WITH ME.

Well, then this is your own fault. In '89, the 5.7L was TPI, the TBI was 5.0L, you failed to specify that it's a swap. Or it's not really a 350. It's not uncommon for people to call a 305 a 350 just because they look the same.

I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR DID NOT DO THE SWAP. THEY SAID A 5.7 WAS PUT IN STILL NOT 100%SURE I CAN NOT GET TO THE NUMBERS ON THE BLOCK .MAN SAID IT WAS A CRATE ENGINE FROM CAR QUEST.

THE ONLY #'S I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET TO IS 627 ON THE BOTTOM OF BLOCK AND ON THE MANIFOLD ....W5....GM....14102182 DON'T CARE THAT MUCH IF IT IS A 350 OR 305 EXCEPT FOR BUYING PARTS AND IT RUNNING GOOD.. IT HAS PLENTY OF POWER AND JUST LOVE MY CAR.
