I will have pictures to follow soon next day or two but just felt I should post this up. Over the years a bunch of you have been a great help to me sharing in the love for thirdgens. There's something special about them. I literally putblood sweat and tears into my Camaro. It was part tribute to the guy who once owned it, a body guy that didn't finish it and passed in a house fire from what I heard. The bumper was from a car that burned because a it's wife poured gas on the car from what I heard... I enjoyed stripping it down, boxing in the control arms and such, engine and granite and rear swap, I enjoyed puttingbin the quicksilver shifter and manual shift kit. Has fun driving it too. Im going ti miss the car. I was stopped in traffic, a lady without suspended license plowed into the back of my car, it left huge creases in both rear quarter panels, bent the unibody structure down and forward, snapped my seat off the studs and pushed my car into the car ahead damaging my front end. It ia totaled. Whiles I would like to hold another or buy another time and money are not in the cards right now. Don't take your cars or life for granted.

yeah Resin that really sucks man but thank God you're ok. I try not to cling to material items but my 3rdgen means a lot to me. I try to think that if I walk back to the parking lot one day and it's not where I left that I wouldn't be upset.......i honestly would feel worse than if my dog died. We all admire our rides, as high maintenance as they are, we throw time and money that we don't have at em to keep em on the road even if everyone else doesn't understand it. Sometime's I can't wait to get off work just to hop in crank it over and rev it to 4 grand in 2nd gear......even if its just a short mile drive.

anyway....I know you're gonna miss urs, cuz i know i would...hope your next hand is pocket Aces!

Wow that was ugly, so sad your car was totalled. I'm really shocked your tail lights didn't get broke. You got double whammied. I hope you are ok, was a pretty bad accident. I sure hope you get a good amount of money from insurance company. You going to try and keep the car and part it out? Once the insurance company gives you a idea of what they will give you, you can tell them you want to buy back..cheap. Part out or use what you need.

 

Definitely buy it back and part out or reuse parts. That sucks! Long as you are ok, that's the most important issue.

From unfortunate similar experience, find at least 3 ads for third gens in similar conditions, with hefty price tags. Mine was totaled before the advent of eBay and craigslist, so I got screwed on the deal- even after providing receipts for thousands of dollars in parts less than 2 years old, I only got about 1500. Today I could have gotten double that. Still bought her back for about 75-100 IIRC.

suppose on the bright side it was another chevy that wrecked me There was a car making a left hand turn into cemetery, I thought it was an ironic location as well, and was that much more thankful to be alive and no broken bones.

yeaaa more I look at the pictures more I miss it, loved that luxo blue paint. wanted to do an LS 6spd swap when I got the chance. They estimated it at 4700, with it being a lower miles car, and that price is after deducting for no interior/stereo. Car did have 2 seats, and fire extinguisher in it

$220 is the buy back price. Considering it, but I'm tight on time and dont know if I could part it out. I was suprised the tail lights stayed solid as well and that the t-tops didnt pop. If the t-tops were out car prob would have buckled more than it did. I'm looking at getting an 11' crew cab with the 6.2, need something dependable, but the 6.2 should scoooooot.

 

Maybe someone on here would be willing to pay the $220 and part it out. Or use the parts them self. That's if they live close to you. That would be nice. Good luck with your crew cab, you will find yourself buying another third gen someday

I cant even imagine that happening to my car.I love mine enough to where even if it were more totaled than that,id buy it back to rebuild her. Its the fact of knowing all the hard work you put into something,and all the memories.

 

i feel the same, actually feeling nauseous thinking about it. Thats the real pain and suffering right there... feel like my right foot has been cut off losing her... rebuild would be nice, but the rear body/hull/frame is twisted/pushed/kinked... would be sweet to cut it away and do a tube chassis in back and front. eh, someday ill prob buy one of those rolling corvette setups off ebay and do a fiberglass body over it.. that would be sweeeeet.
