Unknown Sensor?

Just wondering if anyone can identify the sensor in the attached picture at least I think its a sensor or part of one. This is on the passenger side, any help would be appreciated.

Re: Unknown Sensor?

Coolant temp sensor? Is the rest of it still in the head between the spark plugs?

Is it a bulb socket for an underhood light?

Re: Unknown Sensor?

Yes there is part of a sensor between the spark plugs but I thought the coolant temp sensor had the same connector as the knock sensor. And I do have 2 of those connectors unplugged right now. If it is the coolant temp sensor then what do I hook up the second unused connector to, the one that looks like the knock connector?

Re: Unknown Sensor?

Year, make and model, please.

Maybe the cooling fan switch came apart (located between cylinders 6 and 8, I think) at the top of the head. The knock sensor is towards the bottom of the cylinder head passenger side. Someone may have wired a different connector for a "colder" sensor. How many wires are coming out of it?

Hope this helps.

Re: Unknown Sensor?

what color are the wires? it looks like a coolant temp or manifold air temp sensor. the sensor that has the same connector as the knock sensor is the fan switch, they are both single wire connectors. temp sensors use two wires. My guess is the manifold air temp or intake air temp sensor with the tip broken off. Wire color will help.

Re: Unknown Sensor?

Two wires and gray body points to IAT. TBI cars used a remote sensor in the air cleaner which breaks off if a careless person removes it
