Re: Senior Project Camaro
Well look at junkyards of on ebay, or on here, for that dual snorkle intake I use to have on mine, i know that helps alot. Look at different mufflers, and also eaight reduction is a big thing that makes the car get up and go for free..
It really matters what you want with the car, what kindof budget you have and such.. its not cheep to make the car fast but it can be done!! Dont let anyone ever tell you different.

Re: Senior Project Camaro
Ok you see that wire and sensor that is comming off that silver pipe that goes into my throttle body?? Thats the sensor that youll have to make the wire longer. Look for the sensor on the original air intake "can" assembly on your car.
Also you see that little orange/black sensor on my firewall on the passenger side?? Thats the MAP sensor. You dont need to mess with it, i just wanted ya to know where it is and what it looks like, yours will be green/black(mines a different map sensor"it can read boost from my turbo")

Now look at this pic...it has the MAF sensor assembly but its hollow in there, i gutted it, since you dont need it, also that IAT(intake air tempeture) sensor is on the left side..you see it??

And heres what it looked like on my car... I used the MAF assembly just as a pipe to make it to the throttle body, but you can use whatever you can, to reach the throttle body from the intake itself..If you need help just let me know.

Re: Senior Project Camaro
Yea there sweet intakes, helps with power, and looks really nice. In my opinion..dont go and blow $$ on a K+N air filter(if you decide to) That intake will flow amazing (for a V6) and you can take out the baffles to help the air flow even more. Ill show ya what I mean when ya get it.

Re: Senior Project Camaro
I mean a K+N on the newer dual snorkle intake. there different filters then the one you have one your current stock set up.
The stock set up your car has now suxs bad for flow...but the dual snorkle one is the best route to go.

Re: Senior Project Camaro
I have to agree with KMC, you might really regret selling the car after you do just because of the attachment you have to it. You brought it back to life! I did the same with my 81 TA, and i regret selling it everyday. I miss that car terribly. My IROC w/350TPI would kick that TA's A$$ lol but it was the "bond" with the car that made it special. It was the first car i bought(18 yrs old), and i completely restored it myself. Not trying to talk you out of it by any means, but definetly think about it real long and hard before doing anything in haste, I know the car was your brothers and has been in the family for a while, you fixed her up and got her running, its very possible that even after getting the "nicer" car you'll still regret it!
I watched the vid too, looks like you got it running pretty good. Good job!

Re: Senior Project Camaro
I remember when I sold my first car. It was an '86 base firebird with the 2.8L. I swapped in a 350/TH350. Took me a while to do, and it ran awesome for a while, but I never really finished it. There were a few things that were out of my budget/skillset. I could never get it to stay cool, and after a while I ended up parking it and driving something else. Then I sold it and a little while later I heard it got scrapped. I moved on to better cars though, and I have no real attachment my GTA. If someone were to offer me what it's worth, I'd sell it and get something else. You won't regret trading up like that.

Re: Senior Project Camaro
Only problem is timing your 0-60 time, I use the laptop via the ecm to record time/speed/Tps signal, and also a g-tech to get a rough number.
I then look at what the datalog says, what the g-tech says, and make a average of the 2. On average ive been getting 6.3 seconds, itll be better i feel at the racetrack with a proper launch and slicks.
Im sure my #'s are off bit not by to to much.

i dont think i need to take out the engine or anything to get to the rear main seal since its a RWD and manual? or do i? lol ill try but its a pretty bad one, literally i turn the car on and it loses about a small cup of oil. i dont think additives will repair the damage done already man,

sounds good man, from what ive researched. all i gotta do is:
drop tranny mount (1 hour)
Drop Flyweel(10 minute job)
and there should be the main seal
about a 2 hour job total and only about 20$

i thought about it hard, and everytime i thought of a reason to actually hand over my title, i remembered how good mine is with gas and how yours is, your car is my inspiration. also, the other car was pretty ugly interior wise, and he told me he couldtmake it to boise in that car (capitol of my state) from my city (about a 2 hour drive) so idk.. and on top of that, im learnging more of my car

dont get rid of your car, and if your losing oil it may not be the rear main seal, have ya been under it and checked out the oil pan and flex plate cover to see if there oily, if they are it could be you need a new oil pan gasket, just sayin, but i hope if it is the rear main that an additive will fix er up

Re: Senior Project Camaro{Completed}
Personally I love my lil V6. Its not the fastest car but its easy to work on, easy on the gas, and it is a perfect canidate to turbo when the time comes.
My 3.1L was just begging for boost and 10 years after I got the car I finally did it.
So take your time, and enjoy that Camaro, there fun no matter what.
I never regret turboing my car compared to a engine swap.
"any idiot can make a V8 fast, but it takes a smart idoit to make a V6 fast"
My fav. quote that Ive heard so many times.

Re: Senior Project Camaro{Completed}

I just like being different I guess...LOL.. I love a V8 too man! I had a 1990 5.0 stang for a long while and got her into the low 13's at the track with slicks(it was a stick) I constantly gernaded the trannys and riped a few axles(they literly would pull out or the rear end if you jacked the car up) , it was cheeper to just get another one at the junk yard at the time...LOL. And when you dump a 260Hp car's clutch at 3k at the line, since I had slicks, something is going to give eventually.
So dont think im just a turbo/v6 guy. I just like HP anyway its made. I dont like one more then another, because a 13 second car is a 13 second car. I dont discriminate.
