Re: Senior Project Camaro{Completed}
well guys, i hit the jackpot
i found a guy selling this camaro, its about a 2 hour drive but tottally worth it. it has no engine but im going to use the parts for my camaro such as the front bumper, the hood, and more then likely the interor. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THE T-TOPS because i want to have a car with them, so i might just save them incase i put t-tops on my car soon.
and what not, here she is:

Im picking her up for 350$, what do you guys think? this is the post under it:
83 Z-28 CAMARO PROJECT. CAR IS IN PRIMER AND BODY IS PERFECT THE CAR COMES WITH EXTRAHOOD, ALL THE MOLDING AND SPOILERS THE GAS DOOR HAS BEEN SHAVED. ALL THE BODY WORK IS DONE AND THE FLOOR IN THE REAR HAS BEEN REMOVED TO BE BACKHALVED ALONG WITH WITH THE FENDER WELLS SO ITS READY FOR SOME BIG TIRES THE CAR HAS NO MOTOR AND TRANNY

Re: Senior Project Camaro{Completed}
If your really serious about the turbo you need bigger fuel injectors for that build... 28lbs or so at least as thats what I have and im starting to hit the limit of them with 12psi of boost

Re: Senior Project Camaro{Completed}
Are you planning on putting a cam in it? If not then don't worrie about the internals. The crank and rods are forged from the factory. And there not much else you can do unless you really want to tear into the motor.
But if your going to go that far to turbo it a cam set, some fresh valve springs/seal would help you make some Hp. Also port the heads if you can. Its not too hard.
Contact southbay injectors on here. Search for them on the members list. As they are the company to ask about injectors and you also get 10% off for being a TGO member.

southbay 08 is the username for southbay injectors if you want to search for them on the members list.
Do you mean on the out side or the inside of the intake?? On the inside, some good old brake cleaner?? a dremmel and some light sand paper will clean them up well also, but do not take much meterial off, just the carbon. Since your not porting them. J
ust for your own piece of mind put the gasket on the manifold...then use a sharpie marker or something to make where the meterial is overlaping the gasket then in reality you can take that meterial off with a dremel. If you want to port it. Mainly on the TB area, and the middle to lower intakes.
Like this.
These were not done in this pic but you should get the idea

Tb

See all the extra meterial that can be removed??

Re: Senior Project Camaro{Completed}
Get your engine down to this.. it makes it much easier!! Also label everything and take pics
You need to replace every gasket you take off.
Just thought of it but do you have a active A/C system on your car?? Does it work?? If so try your best to work your way arround that air cond. stuff as you DO not want to crack a line or anything like that. I dont have a/c since I ditched it awhile ago since it didn't work.
It took me 6 hrs total to replace both my head gaskets a few months ago but I did it once before so plan on it takeing awhile and take your time!

Silver valve covers look nice IMO

Heres it with the heads off, and the timing chain cover/water pump off. U wont need to take the water pump/timing chain stuff off unless your adding a cam.

Re: Senior Project Camaro{Completed}
Well "if" you want to just remove the a/c system, there is a few test ports on the hard lines(there aluminum) they look like that schrader valve that you have on the back of your manifold(the fuel press.one)
Ok now you need to carfully push down on one of the ports on the line with at lil screwdriver and see if theres any refrigerent in there. If there is a gas/liquid squrting out you might not want to ditch the ac as it may be another problem with your ac unit. If you push down the shrader valve and nothing comes out then just start taking everything off. Its as simple as that. There is a condenser in front of your radiator, a evaporater in your heaterbox on the firewall, all the alum lines, the a/c pump/compressor, the accumulator and I think theres a reciever also. Im not 100% sure about the reciever but basically take everything of that is connected by those aluminum lines.
The cam is not hard to install at all. The benifits?? MORE POWER to compliment the ported heads and the turbo if you do that.

Yea its a delicate process but very easy. If you get that far in the build Ill help you along the way to make sure you get her out and in right. If I did it you can, as it was my first cam install on my car and 700 boosted miles later she still purrs like a kitten! LOL

deltacam.com
this is the place to get the cam. I have the 260 grind. It cost 118 dollars shipped to my house. Its a nice mild cam and will work well with the turbo.

1100 bucks thats about what i've spent on my car in total. For everything Ive done to it over the past year. Thats a good amount of cash to build that car up!
IMO sell the parts unless you need certain things.

Re: Senior Project Camaro{Completed}
Hey Bro check your oil asap, look to see if its got that fluid in it. If so, its not too big of a deal, you just need to replace the head gaskets on both sides. And your close to having enough stuff off to do it anyways.
Also if there is coolent in the oil youll know when you drain the oil as the water/coolent will sink to the botton and will literly look green/milkish coming out. So just go ahead and drain the oil, better to be safe then sorry.
Let me know what you find. Dont feel bad I blew my head gasket a few months ago and had to deal with a horrible milky mess in the oil.

well i checked the dipstick and there was nothing, so im just going to drain all the oil, anyways im still onto changing the rear main seal after this project so it will all come together. yea im going to replace every gasket, at 50$ for a gasket set its not bad ( a head gasket set for my 99 merc sable was 160$ :/) so all worth the money. ok so now that i got that side and the other pretty much off, now do i remove those springs,?

My valve covers are stock, i just sanded them down and painted them with a few coats of silver topped with some clear coat, all heat paint stuff.
If there wasent anything in the lines take it all off includeing the compressor that the belt turns. That will clean up the engine bay alot. You will need a new belt though thats shorter, ill get my part ## of mine and link it to ya, there like 15 bucks but its worth it to get rid of stuff that doesnt work

Re: Senior Project Camaro{Completed}
Theres no pattern to take them off.... Those things are really on there.... 70 or so ft/lbs, so use a breaker bar as thats what I used and make sure you have the right socket..i think its a 15mm or somthing like that. I know its metric. Then just take it easy with the breaker bar, and give her helll. They'll come off.
