Re: need help getting to the dist bolt

You can find a few different distributor wrenches at auto parts stores. The first time I adjusted my timing, I had to remove almost everything from the area to get at the bolt. I installed an aftermarket coil that sits about 1/2" further away from the distributor and flipped the EGR solenoid around so it sits up and away, rather than down and toward, the distributor. Now I can get a dizzy wrench in quite easily and even a regular wrench works in a pinch.

Got to a pawn shop in their assorted tool bins find the wrench you need preferably closed end with a long handle lay it across a stove burner let the flame turn it red hot then slowly shape it fit the space you have to get to the bolt.

That's right. I had to use an open end wrench and bend it into an L shape. Not quite a 90 degree angle though , a little less.
