Re: broken odometer
Yeah it's a little odd the spedometer works perfect it's just the odometer that's messed up... I don't mind it too much but I'd like to get it fixed eventually

Re: broken odometer
I'm about to change my speed sensor out on my 87 TA with 305 and 700r4, only because it worked fine before i swapped trannys out, replaced tranny with another 700r4 from same car, and no odometer and speedo, all other gauges work fine. so I took the speed sensor off my old tranny and have attempted to change them out, but it seems i'm going to have to pull my tailshaft housing to be able to get the broken speed sensor off. kinda sucks trying to do all this in my drivway with a jack stands, i called a few shops, sounds like i could get it done for about 50 bucks. i just hope this will fix my problem when it's all said and done.

Re: broken odometer
I have a 1992 firebird. The speedo works just fine, but the odometer and trip odometer only intermittently work and the trip odometer will quickly move to 0 when passing 9 in the 1/10ths dial.
Did anyone figure out what the deal is? I'd rather a quick fix than sending it out for $200+ and 4 weeks.

Re: broken odometer
Just for grins and giggles, check the connections to the speedo circuit board. I have a '92 RS and the speedo works but the trip and OD don't. After I pulled the board I found very tarnished solder strips. Cleaned them up with 400 wet/dry sandpaper. I also found the one electrolytic capacitor, 150uf @25VDC was leaking. I'm mainly an electronics guy & ham radio operator, so these kinds of failures are a serious red flag. The liquid inside one of those caps can eat through foil paths and did on mine. I replaced the cap and ran a jumper wire to replace the bad foil path. Tomorrow I'll put a few drops of oil on some of the gears before reassembly. I also found that the copper foil paths on the plastic circuit board that connects the cluster to the connectors in the dash were tarnished also. Some of the tabs had came loose form the circuit film too. I super glued them back to the plastic film and cleaned them with 400 grit also. I'll post back when I put her back together and let everyone know if this procedure worked.
