hard start no power when increasing throttle

my car has a problem that i have been trying to trace. i replaced pretty much everything but still no solution. It needs carb spray to start and when she is running she runs really rough and when i try to accelerate it bogs down. I replaced the plugs, wires distributor fuel filter, timed it and the ignition ecu. Can a computer be bad on this car?

We need to know what you got there, carb, tbi, tpi, ect.
Check engine light flashing?

Re: hard start no power when increasing throttle

To me it just sounds like a fuel deficiancy.

When you say carb spray, do you make carb cleaner or starting fluid? Im assuming starting fluid, because carb cleaner would make it bog down more lol.

It would help to know if were talking carb, tpi, or tbi tho..

If its carbed, try this: pour some gas down the carb thru a gas tank, cup, ect.. Then try to start it.
Be careful not too put too much in, because then you will flood it. If it starts up, great! Now you know your problem, its not getting enough fuel. If little or no improvement, we'll try some other tests. But to me it def sounds fuel related.

Its a 5.7 tpi. Yes i was starting fluid lol. I just marked the distributor cap on where it originally set then it put in and matched the lines up.

Re: hard start no power when increasing throttle

get a timing light from the local auto parts store and verify timing. and yes a vacuum leak can cause it to run rough as well.

OK tpi, check the fuel pressure, make sure it holds pressure after the engine is off.

Re: hard start no power when increasing throttle

Ok i replaced the fuel pump fuel filter and sending unit. It is not holding pressure i dont know if its coming from locking cap or the fuel tank is leaking. how do i test this? can i use gasket sealer to somehow fix this?

Re: hard start no power when increasing throttle

Pull the vacuum hose on the pressure regulator, if its bad, fuel will leak out there. Prime the engine first. You could also have injectors leaking down.
Whats the pressure while running?
