Re: little help with intake
Disconnect the battery (for safety), then fuel lines and throttle and transmission cable (if it's an auto). The plenum needs to be removed from the runners, then the runners from the intake, then pull the distributor. This gets you down to the intake itself. There are various vacuum lines and the coolant tube to the throttle body, but those are easy and the sensor connectors are too. You don't have to worry about mixing them up as they only fit the particular part they are designed for. The fuel rails will be after the runners, but they are easy, I think 4 bolts holds them in. The injectors simply unplug from the harness. I may have missed a detail or two, but this should get you on the right track.

Re: little help with intake
Just disconnect the two fuel lines at the front and then the 4 bolts that hold the fuel rail down. The injectors just press into the intake and will come out with the rails. You will have to apply some leverage because after so long, they will be stuck a bit.

By the way, the bracket on the front that the fuel lines go through is bolted to the front of the motor if my memory serves me correctly.

Re: little help with intake
yes, you need to in order to keep debris and dirt out. I capped mine with some aluminum foil and zip ties and then covered them with a ziplock bag. Had to do it the cheap way because I didn't have any plugs or caps, but it worked fine.

Looking good! I did the same thing, cleaned up everything and then I put some Duplicolor engine paint (aluminum) on them. It all looked great! Would send a picture, but my computer crashed and all my pics were lost.

You said you hope the intake gets here soon, are you installing a different intake or what?

Re: little help with intake
Yeah well it's stock but new to me. Intake got here yesterday so at this point no new progress yet. Really sucks having to find a ride to work everyday. Lol. If I am this far with the motor in, do you think I am capable of changing my head gaskets? I did valve covers already.

Re: little help with intake
Yes, you could change them, but unless you have a problem with one there is no need to. You'll have to go through the pain of removing the exhaust manifolds to do it. I recommend not doing it though unless you really need to.

Re: little help with intake
The overheating is common on these cars, but most likely unless it SEVERELY overheated, your head gaskets are fine. If you don't have water in your oil, or oil in your water or blowing white puffy (steamy) smoke when you are driving you are fine. If you pull your dipstick and it looks kinda milky that's oil and water mixed. New thermostats, fan switches, and temp sensors maybe in order though, and since you have the top end off, easy to replace as well, so I would go ahead and do those.
