Keep in mind that it could also be a dead/low battery, neutral safety switch out of whack, starter/solenoid(hit on it), or maybe vats.

You can wire two wires together on the vats starter enable relay behind the driver side kick panel, on mine its Pin A ( DK GRN/WHT) and wire from Pin E (YEL) 1st and 5th wires. But mines an 89, your wire colors could be different. I cut, stripped, and used a twist cap. If that gets you engine cranking its probably vats and u can go from there on disabling it completely(custom chip and resistor mod).

Also try disconnecting the NEG battery cable for like 5 mins and then try starting, that worked on mine before when i had a ecm problem.

Re: car wont start vats?

I just took the key cylinder off (the black outer piece) and noticed (i think) I lost a piece of metal that touches the resistor on the key.... Would that cause the problem.

I'm not sure on the internals of the cylinder, but if a piece is missing that tells the vats the key resistance, common sense would point to yes, if vats doesnt feel the right resistance, it wont crank. So buy a new cylinder and key with the correct vats number(i think there are 16 possibilities, dont know off the top of my head) you have to check with a voltmeter touchin both sides of the chip in your key, set on ohms and then use a chart on here(search for it or google) that tells u which vats number to use OR
use that resistor number and buy resistors from radio shack(or pre made ones on ebay) and stick in the vats wire,(research here on how and watch youtube videos) i lucked out with one resistor, you may have to connect a bunch to get the proper resistance within your chart range(5%?).

if you do that and piggyback the vats wire under the dash, cut the wire coming from the cylinder because if the key is touching a little bit it would add to much resistance, research FIRST, you got this.

Re: car wont start vats?

Weird thing is my security lights not coming on even with the key sensor checker thing out the ignition.... So with the resistor hooked up it shouldn't matter right?
