Re: Is it just me....

Used to be the best once upon a time.

In last five years have had many bad including $$$ racing plugs
Was chasing a miss in my fresh 383, sprayed water on headers and found several pipes cooler than others.
Threw in some oiled up NGK's from my old L98 and it solved the problem ;3 out of 8 new Champions bad out of the box
Had similar problem with Champion iridium's in my buddy's LT1, half bad out of the box

I noticed a couple of my primaries for headers hotter than others also. I'm very glad you mentioned that. I was thinking about the autolite 3924 as an alternative. If I went Bosch or NGK, should I get a particular style or just stick with a regular plug? How much shorter are the Accels compared to the conventionals.

is there a reason you don't want to use ACdelco's? always work fine for me and are reasonably priced, especially if your just running copper plugs

Re: Is it just me....
No reason at all... In fact I was just looking at the R44XLS plug. I am concerned about length because I'm running shorty headers and straight plug Brodix heads. I had Delcos in my vortec build and loved them. Brodix "recommends the RN12YC from Champion and my car runs like s***. So I'm looking for an alternative.

Good enough, I'm swapping this week. More than likely will grab the Delcos. Will update the new running results. Thanks for the responses folks

Re: Is it just me....
UPDATE: I went to O Reillys last night and bought some NGK V-R4s or something like that. Wasnt too sure with my purchase, so I waited til this morning and called NGK's tech line. They recommended I get the BKR6E plugs to get it running and tuned, then swap in a set of Iridiums after for optimum performance. I pulled the Champions last night and double checked the routing of my new plug wires. I went back to parts store this morning and grabbed the recommended plugs and came home. Slapped those hoes in and this car is ALIVE and WELL. It runs super smooth and VERY strong. No hiccups in the idle, no backfiring, starts on first attempt. I am beyond excited. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER CHAMPION PLUG FOR AS LONG AS I LIVE!!!!

Re: Is it just me....
I am a HUGE NGK fan. I have had so many problems with champ plugs and Bosch plugs in my cars and bikes that I will never go back to anything but NGK. BTW jap cars hate Bosch plugs.
Re: Is it just me....
Yes, something has happened to Champion over the years. They used to be really good quality, but I've had no luck with them in recent years. To my mind NGK are easily the best at the moment.
