You'll have to tell us what it is doing exactly, not just that it's slow.

When you did the test was the engine warmed up and were your carb secondaries opening as they should?

Assuming this is a conversion to carburetor, it is very important to tell us exactly what type of distributor you are running (don't just say HEI) and how it is set up.
Some people leave the computer in the car to control certain things like the old computer controlled distributor. I doubt this is the case here, but it is a situation that can explain very poor performance.

Are you getting any misfires? Is the engine revving up smoothly?

Is your performance the same as before the distributor swap?
What model Accel distributor did you get?
Have you went through the process of setting up the timing curve yet?

there is info in the links of my signature for setting up distributors.

I have not replaced the distributor yet the stock one is in there now but a distributor should not5 make that big of a difference Idk about the timing curve as I did not build the car but ill check it and do another run in the morning

I don't really consider that an answer because I don't know for sure which distributor came stock on your particular car. Was it originally a TPI car and converted to carburetor?

You said your distributor was worn so you got a new distributor to replace it, so it sounded like you had replaced it.
When you say worn, what exactly do you mean there?

Re: 87 camaro help pls

if the ignition timing isn't right, it will make a huge difference.
a computer control distributor will have very little advance. i may very well be wrong, (which i am wrong too often) but IIRC, the ignition module can add about 8 degrees without the ECM. 8+ base timing of 12 tops is 20 degrees of total advance.
20 degrees on a motor that needs ~34 at WOT will be terribly slow, not to mention very bad fuel mileage.
if i am wrong and the ignition module does not add any timing, and if you do have a computer control distributor, im surprised you even got it to 60 MPH.

Re: 87 camaro help pls

You're being very elusive about giving information concerning your distributor.
If you just post a good picture of it, to include the wire connections (not the plug wires), then we can give you your answer quickly.

An yes, a distributor problem can absolutely cause extremely poor performance.

It sounds like this is the first time for you driving or even looking at this car ??
It also sounds like when you use the word "distributor" you really mean to say "distributor cap".

If you are that lost, then why not do what is asked and post a good picture of what you're dealing with so you can get some good advice?
