Dumb Question reguarding ECM Chip

I an old school hot rodder Never did much with car computers, my question is I have a 305 TBI with both Tbi Mods done, LT1 Cam bigger springs and 1.6 rockers and long tube headers. Once the engine is in and hooked up will the car run or should I say start with the factory chip. just to see if the engine rebuild was done and looking for major issues

thanks

chris

Re: Dumb Question reguarding ECM Chip

It will start with your stock L03 tune but to optimize your engine you will need to datalog and re burn your eprom. If you are using long tube headers and the o2 sensor is now down stream it will be harder for it to get up to 500 degrees to start working. You should install a heated o2.

I used a 4 wire heated from a 95' Buick 3.8L. It was about $35

Re: Dumb Question reguarding ECM Chip

IIRC, the AFS-74 part number worked in sync with certain aspects of the 7730 ecm better than our factory sensor

Re: Dumb Question reguarding ECM Chip

you can use either with the 4 wire pins A and C will be grounds you can tie these two together on a pigtail harness. pin D will be the accessory powered 12v use a 10 amp fuse inline to protect this circuit. Pin B will hook to your factory purple oxygen sensor wire.
