I finally got my car running for a little while yesterday. The car has a non ccc carb and distributor, and I removed the ECM and all that wiring. While the engine was running I noticed the SES light and choke light were on. I figure I'm going to have to remove the bulb for the SES light, but I was wondering what would make it come on? I thought the ecm controlled that. Also what is the choke light for, am I gonna have to remove that bulb too? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: SES and Choke light
The "Choke" light is ACTUALLY the "Alternator" light, just, mis-labelled. If it's on, odds are, it's because the alt isn't working.

Yes if the ECM is removed the SES light will be permanently on. Remove that bulb.

But fix the alt to make the other go out.

Thanks! Didn't want to hear about the alternator, but I'm glad I now have that info. Time to dig out my voltmeter.
