Pre-build thread

I just bought a 4 bolt 350 tbi from a 95 truck (my camaro is an auto 350 TBI) I'm tearing the whole engine down on Saturday and sending it to the machine shop when I have money (laid off of second job) my plans are to get a 383 stroker kit, not sure what size cam yet, it will be mostly street driven with a few runs at the track once in a while, stock heads that will be ported and made to flow the best they can, an edelbrock intake, either the performer air gap (idle-5500) or the RPM air gap (1600-6500RPM) and a Holley street avenger 770 carb with electric choke and vaccuum secondaries, the cam will depend on which intake I use and the intake will depend if I want to run it more on the track than on the street, I have a 700r4 with a corvette servo, transgo 2&3 kit (full manual) and will have a b&m ratchet shifter, a 3.42 posi rear with subframe connectors strut tower brace a wonder bar and stall converter, also a different fuel pump with a regulator, and headers with full exhaust and all emissions removed except high flow cat. So what I need from you guys is input on these parts before I buy them (I only have the engine posi and transgo kit) and some other things I'll need to get that I haven't mentioned. Also what stall converter should I get? I have no expirience with those. And with the cam, it has to be flat tappet and what do I look for to get that slow choppy old muscle car sound? More overlap? Thanks for any help in advance.

Re: Pre-build thread

You could probably go bigger, but this is a tried and true cam that makes good power. I would think a stall converter around at least 2800, but I'm no expert when it comes to converters.

Re: Pre-build thread

Will less lobe separation give the the idle qualities I was talking about? That has the perfect rpm range tho

Yes, the narrower the lobe angle the more lope.
