My solution to the vortec head lift limits.

I really wanted to push the limits of a stock cast iron head, but the number one downside to them is the .480" lift limit. These started life as a bone stock set of 906 vortecs that came off a GM warranty core with 150 miles on it. Rather than trimming the top of the factory guide for clearance I decided to completely eliminate them and install a set of CHE bronze valves guides. Expensive you say? Yes. but not when you can do the work yourself. These heads will also be getting screw in studs and guide plates, 2.02/1.60 valve, Spring pockets cut to accomadate a 1.500" OD spring, and some serious time getting ported/flowed.
