Hi im new to the forum and am probably posting in the wrong section but please bear with me..i lost the only key for my 89 pontiac trans am gta ws6 its one of those keys with the black chip on it that I believe they call a resistor..i called the dealership for them to basically tell me im screwed and have to get it towed to the dealer..so what the dealer said is there are 15 different possible resistors for my car and the only way to figure it out is cut 15 different keys at 30 dollars a piece..that rediculous..i called a locksmith they said bc of the resistor they cant do it that I have to get a key w resistor and they can cut it well neone can do that they just gotta get the key code..please help I need to know what to do other than buying 15 keys at 30 a piece gotta b a better way also I told the guy feom the dealer ill just order the ignition w key off ebay or from their dealer he said that wont work bc it wont have the right resistor that itll turn the ignition and everytging but wont start the vehicle is this true?? Please help

 

Go to the dealer with your VIN and proof of ownership. They should have your info on file.

 

get someone to turn off the vats in your chip.....not that hard to do....then just get new ignition switch and key or locksmith can make you a key.
