Speed wobbles?

Ok so I have a '92 Camaro RS Heritage Edition. It's all stock. I haven't had any issues in the 3 years of owning it. But I'm very new to car mechanics. But my current issue is that at first when i was going 80mph, the car starts to shake badly but now it is happening at 70-75mph.

Does anyone know what the cause could be? I was thinking control arms?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Speed wobbles?

Alot of that has to do with any suspension. I'd recommend replacing bushing and check the cheap things first.

Re: Speed wobbles?

Well I'm planning to swap out the stock engine and tranny for a 383 stroker with a 700R4 tranny. Do you think the stock control arms could handle more power?

Re: Speed wobbles?

You know if you are gonna spend thousands on a new motor and tranny you are gonna wanna upgrade the control arms for 200$ and Probally look to reinforce your rearend or you will be ripping it shitless.

Re: Speed wobbles?

I got lucky. I already have a rebuilt 350 that I'll get machined and install a 383 Stroker kit. And I found a local shop that will charge a couple hundred for a rebuilt 700R4 if I give them the old tranny.

Where did you find control arms for $200? I keep finding them for $450.

And what would I do to reinforce the rearend?

Maybe take a look at the ball joints.

Have you inspected your shocks, struts, and wheel bearings lately?
